Railero is an independent European rail travel resource. These are the principles we follow when we research and maintain the route guides and travel information on this site.
How we research
We research each route before we publish it, and we prefer authoritative sources: the train operators and national railways themselves, along with official transport, tourism and government information. Where we draw on other reputable sources, we use them to cross-check rather than as the last word.
We pay particular attention to the details travellers most often get caught out by, such as which station a train uses, whether a seat reservation is required, and how rail passes like Interrail apply to a given service. We aim to describe what a traveller actually needs to know, not to list everything.
Current information, and how it changes
We distinguish services that run today from changes that have only been announced for the future, and we try to say clearly which is which. Railway timetables, fares, reservation rules and operating arrangements can and do change, sometimes at short notice and during engineering work.
Because of that, we review the important operational details of our guides periodically and update them when services change. We still encourage you to confirm time-critical details, such as exact departure times and current reservation requirements, with the relevant operator before you travel.
Independence
Railero earns a commission when readers book through some of our links, which is what keeps the site free to use. Those affiliate relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions: we cover the routes and recommend the options we believe are genuinely useful, whether or not a booking link earns us anything.
We do not accept payment for favourable editorial coverage, and we are not owned by or affiliated with any train operator or booking platform. Where we earn a commission, we disclose it. You can read more on our affiliate disclosure page.
Spot something that's changed?
Railways change, and we would rather hear about it than have a guide drift out of date. If you spot something that no longer matches what you found on the ground, or you think we have got a detail wrong, please tell us and we will check it. Corrections are genuinely welcome.
